Construction Scope
We are excited to announce Fort Rucker’s project scope for 2011.
Throughout the eight-year Initial Development Period (IDP), beginning in April 2006, our goal is to create three newly designed neighborhoods at Fort Rucker, each containing 400 to 600 homes. Every home will either be replaced or significantly improved and all new homes will be comparable to those being constructed off-post.
There are approximately 1,500 homes at Fort Rucker. Through renovation and new construction the number of homes at the end of the Initial Development Period, which ends December 2013, will be 1,476. Out of that end state total, 791 will be new homes and 685 will be renovations.
To date, over 725 new homes have been constructed. New home construction is underway in Munson Heights and Bowden Terrace with 96 new homes scheduled to be built in 2012.
The Allen Heights neighborhood Center opened in 2009 and the Bowden Terrace Neighborhood Center opened in 2010. The Munson Heights Neighborhood Center, the final Neighborhood Center at Fort Rucker, was completed in December 2011.
Neighborhood Centers are approximately 7,200 sq. ft. of family-centered space to include amenities such as a workout room, media room, computer lab, meeting spaces with a fully furnished kitchen and a 25-meter, six-lane swimming pool with beach-like entry.
Since April 1, 2006, over 95 percent of subcontractors were local small businesses and over $100 million has been spent with local subcontractors.
